Risk LevelLow

Planned risk assumes each position reaches its stop-loss. Actual daily losses can differ depending on exits, gaps, fees, slippage, and how positions overlap.

How is trading risk calculated?

The result is calculated using the following formula:

Total Planned Risk Exposure = Risk% × Open Positions Suggested Max Positions = floor(Daily Loss% / Risk%)

  • Risk amount per trade = Balance × Risk%
  • Max Daily Loss Amount = Balance × Max Daily Loss%
  • Compare planned exposure against your daily loss limit: within, at, or above
  • Risk level: <5% Low, 5–10% Medium, >10% High (stacked exposure)
  • Optional win-rate note is qualitative — not Kelly, not Monte Carlo
  • Planned exposure assumes stop-losses hit; actual daily loss can differ
  • Size each ticket with Position Size and a Stop Loss.

Example Calculation

₹1,00,000 account, 1% per trade, 3 open positions, 3% daily cap:

  1. 1. Planned exposure = 1% × 3 = 3% → AT LIMIT
  2. 2. Risk per trade = ₹1,000
  3. 3. Max daily loss amount = ₹3,000
  4. 4. Suggested max concurrent positions = floor(3% / 1%) = 3
  5. 5. A fourth 1% ticket would raise planned exposure to 4% — above the daily cap if all four stop

Add a 35% win rate in Advanced Options and the page will warn if stacked risk is already High.

Frequently Asked Questions

A common cap is keeping stacked per-trade risk under 5% of equity (Low on this page). 5–10% is Medium; above 10% is High. That assumes the positions are not the same bet in different tickers. Three 1% altcoin longs in a risk-on tape are closer to one 3% coin-beta ticket. Planned exposure is not a guarantee of actual daily loss.
