How is liquidation estimated?

The result is calculated using the following formula:

Long: Entry × (1 − 1/Leverage + MMR) Short: Entry × (1 + 1/Leverage − MMR)

  • Distance to Liquidation % = |Liquidation − Entry| / Entry × 100
  • Margin Used = (Entry × Quantity) / Leverage
  • Simplified isolated-margin formula — funding, fees, and cross-margin sharing are not included. Treat the price as an estimate; exchanges differ.

Example Calculation

Long at ₹50,000, 10x, 0.5% MMR, quantity 1:

  1. 1. 1 / Leverage = 0.10; MMR = 0.005
  2. 2. Liquidation = 50,000 × (1 − 0.10 + 0.005) = ₹45,250
  3. 3. Distance = ₹4,750 / ₹50,000 = 9.5%
  4. 4. Margin used = ₹50,000 / 10 = ₹5,000

A short on the same inputs liquidates at ₹54,750. Put a stop inside that band, not on it.

Isolated liquidates when that position's margin hits maintenance. Cross pulls in unused wallet balance, so the price can travel further — and a loser can harvest funds you meant for other trades. This page uses the simplified isolated formula for both modes and labels the result as an estimate.
